California Wild Boar hunts on private land near San Jose

Excellent Hunting and Fabulous Lodging

Come join us for wild boar and deer hunting, as well as turkey, quail, and dove.

We hunt in the Diablo Mountains generally east of Hollister and south of Highway 152. The area is easily within reach of four international airports: San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose and Fresno. The San Jose airport is closest, about 1.5 hours away.

We have miles and miles of trails and roads on an active cattle ranch where we will be the only hunters. If we see anyone else, it will be cowboys out doing their job. It is a very large property with a lot of varied terrain. Elevations range from 1,200 to over 4,000 feet above sea level. Some areas are very remote. Although it is a working cattle ranch, this area offers the beauty and the danger of the wilderness.

Some of your party like the outdoors but not really into hunting? It really is a nice place to just get away. Hiking, walking, biking, sightseeing, or just relaxing? We have it all. We even have fishing!

Along with mostly Angus and Charolais cattle, there is a wide variety of critters on the property. We hunt the wild hogs, blacktail deer, turkeys and smaller birds, but we also see coyotes, bobcats, raccoons, badgers and the occasional skunk. We also sometimes see Tule Elk! There are lots of ground squirrels, cottontail bunnies and hares. There are owls and eagles and hawks, as well as road runners, turkey vultures and the rare condor. We see amazing wildlife. Even some of the bugs are cool.

Bring your spouse or significant other and let them sleep in and enjoy the lodge while you hunt!

First class lodging

The lodge itself is of top quality and quite lovely. In addition to the large gathering/dining area and huge commercial kitchen, there is an oversized and accessible bathroom with shower.

We have three beautiful new guest rooms and two full bathrooms right next to the lodge with room for up to six persons. There are also four additional modern cabins just a couple hundred yards away. The cabins each have two private bedrooms with private restrooms, and a central living room with kitchenette.

We have a total of eleven rooms for overnight guests. Full catering can also be arranged for large parties.  Most cars should be able to drive right to the lodge. There is even satellite TV, WiFi and cellular phone service if you just cannot be out of touch.

We do require a minimum of two buck hunters or three boar hunters to book the lodge but there are also options for smaller parties.

Boar hunts start at $1,400 and Buck hunts start at $2,500. These are per hunter costs for a Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon hunt. There are increased fees for significant trophies that we can discuss.

We encourage hunters to make sure their rifles are sighted in, but we can also do some practice shooting.

(almost) Everything is provided

The facilities are fully equipped, right down to towels, soap and shampoo. All meals, beverages and snacks are included. (If desired, guests need only to bring their preferred adult beverages.)

We will have food and drinks with us in the field but can also return to the lodge for lunch if desired.  Let us know any specific likes or dislikes, and we will try and accommodate your preferences.

We will get around in a 4x4 truck or open air Jeep, and we can walk as much or as little as desired. We have harvested trophy animals as close as 30 yards and as far as a mile off of the trail.

Each hunter will need to bring their own rifle, ammo, license and pig tag or Zone A (south) deer tag. (An upland bird stamp is necessary if we are hunting birds.) This is the lead free zone so non-lead ammo is required. We also recommend bringing ear protection.

We have a screened skinning room equipped with a walk-in cooler right next to the lodge. (We do the dirty work but you are welcome to participate to whatever extent you want.) We can refer a local taxidermist and meat processor, and we can arrange for shipping.

We also accommodate non-hunter observers/sightseers. Our goal is for you to enjoy the trip as much as possible.

We can refer local taxidermy

Blacktail Buck

Saw this guy in 2017, last weekend of the season. He is still out there.
